[spoiler]Command & Conquer 4 to kolejna odsłona jednej z najbardziej znanych strategii czasu rzeczywistego. Za następną część serii odpowiada studio EA Los Angeles. Firma w przeszłości wyprodukowała kilka innych odsłon sagi, czyli Command & Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 (wraz z dodatkiem Uprising).
Czwarta część Command & Conquer kontynuuje wątki poprzednich odsłon, przedstawiając także konkluzję dla całej historii obracającej się wokół Tiberium. Opowieść rozgrywa się po wydarzeniach znanych z Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. Jest rok 2062 i ludzkość znajduje się w obliczu wymarcia. W ciągu sześciu lat krystaliczny surowiec Tiberium spowoduje całkowite wyjałowienie planety. Dwie frakcje - Global Defense Initiative oraz Brotherhood of Nod - desperacko walczą o powstrzymanie tego procesu. Żeby ocalić własną skórę być może trzeba będzie dokonać rzeczy, które jeszcze niedawno były całkiem nie do pomyślenia.
Gra jest przedstawicielem gatunku RTS. Całość została podzielona na dwie kampanie - każda z nich opowiada historię jednej strony konfliktu. Podobnie jak w Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, misje możemy przechodzić zarówno w pojedynkę, jak i w kooperacji z drugim graczem. Sama zabawa wygląda teraz nieco inaczej niż w poprzednich odsłonach serii. Rozpoczynając misję wybieramy jedną z trzech maszyn kroczących (tzw. Crawlerów), która jest zawsze podstawą wszystkich naszych działań na polu bitwy. Jeżeli wybierzemy machinę ofensywną, będziemy mogli produkować jednostki naziemne. Pojazd defensywny pozwala wznosić struktury obronne, zaś maszyna pełniąca rolę wsparcia udostępnia nam siły powietrzne i dodatkowe moce, np. ataki obszarowe. Zbieranie surowców również zostało zmodyfikowane - w Tyberyjskim Zmierzchu nie musimy gromadzić Tyberium w celach produkcyjnych. Jednostki możemy swobodnie produkować do pewnego narzuconego z góry limitu.
Command & Conquer 4 to oczywiście szereg innowacji wpływających na szybką i płynną rozgrywkę. Twórcy zachowali najważniejsze elementy serii, chociaż wprowadzili również podział na klasy, mobilne bazy oraz statystyki gracza, które można rozwijać w poszczególnych trybach zabawy. W grze pojawiają się również osiągnięcia, czyli specjalne zadania, które gracz może wykonywać zarówno w trybie kampanii jak i podczas rozgrywki wieloosobowej.
Ważnym aspektem Command & Conquer 4 jest także rozgrywka sieciowa, w której liczy się przede wszystkim zaliczanie wytyczonych celów. W pojedynkach może zmierzyć się nawet do dziesięciu zawodników (5v5). Drogą do sukcesu jest gra drużynowa i kooperacja pomiędzy graczami.[/spoiler]

  mysterious, alien crystalline structure that has infested Earth for decades
  and served as the primary reason for years of relentless conflict between the
  Global Defense Initiative (GDI) and the Brotherhood of Nod, is close to
  rendering the planet uninhabitable. Mankind is on the verge of extinction
  when Kane, Nod's prophetic leader, emerges from seclusion to deliver GDI the
